Runway is the FIRE planner that knows your own country's tax rules: it turns your money into one honest number, the age you could stop working.
Short, about 50 words
Runway is a Financial Independence and Retire Early planner built on real tax rules rather than American defaults. Answer a few questions and it gives you one honest number: the age your money could let you stop working. Then pull the levers that move it sooner. Ten countries are modelled natively, retiring abroad is priced country by country, and everything stays on your iPhone.
Long
Every retirement calculator assumes American rules. Runway is built the other way around, on the rules
that actually decide a retirement date where you live. Ten countries can be planned from, each on its own
accounts, tax bands and pension rules: Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the
Netherlands, the United States, Canada and Australia. In Norway that means formuesskatt (wealth tax), the
ASK account's capital-first withdrawals, the skjermingsfradrag, NAV and IPS pensions, and the
utflyttingsskatt owed on leaving; every other home country gets the same treatment on its own rules. And
if leaving is the dream, it prices that too: eighteen countries are modelled and all work as destinations,
from Spain to Thailand, from local drawdown taxes to any exit tax on the way out.
The app starts simple, one motivating number from a few questions, then grows as deep as your finances do:
a money-over-time chart, a range-of-futures Monte Carlo, a plan-health score, and an opportunity engine
that shows exactly how many years each change buys you. An on-device AI assistant (Apple Intelligence)
answers questions grounded in your own plan. It ships in English, Norwegian, Italian, German and French, built natively
in SwiftUI for iOS 26, and private by design: no account, no bank logins, nothing leaves your phone.
The story
Runway was built by an Italian who moved to Norway and went looking for a way to plan his future. Every
retirement app he tried was built for Americans, blind to formuesskatt, to how an ASK account really works,
to the exit tax he would owe if he ever moved back home. So he learned the Norwegian rules himself and
turned them into the planner he wished he'd had when he arrived. Runway is the result, and it now does the
same for nine more countries: a serious financial tool that speaks the rules where you actually live,
respects your privacy, and gives you a straight answer to one question: "when can I stop working?"
What makes Runway different
Built on real rules, not adapted to them. Ten home countries modelled natively, down to wealth taxes, shielding deductions, tax-wrapped accounts like the ASK and the ISA, and state pensions with their real earliest claim ages.
Retire abroad, priced honestly. Destination countries from Spain to Thailand, modelled with 2026 figures: local taxes on the drawdown, the exit tax on the way out, spending in local currency.
Adaptive depth. A few questions give a real freedom age in minutes; optional modules let people add only the parts of their financial life that apply, from a beginner's one number to a stress-tested plan.
Honest numbers. Progress is always real, never inflated. Figures carry a plain "estimate, not advice" footing, and the app never paywalls the answer to "when can I stop?"
Private by design. No account, no bank connections, no ads. Every projection is computed on the device.
Modern iOS. An on-device AI plan assistant on Apple Intelligence, home-screen and lock-screen widgets, Siri and Spotlight, Swift Charts projections, iCloud sync, full VoiceOver and Dynamic Type, localized in five languages.
